CHESAPEAKE, VA. (August 1, 2023) –
Recognizing rapid growth in the area, US Eye successfully obtained a Certificate of Public Need from the Virginia Department of Health to open a second operating room at CVSE. The approval was received and the project was completed after months of extensive market research, patient needs analysis, and internal planning.
“Single-specialty eye surgery centers add tremendous value to patients and to the health delivery system, by offering highly specialized, efficient surgical eye care at lower costs and more convenient times. This addition has doubled our surgical capacity at CVSE, further supporting our goal to provide the best ophthalmic care to patients in the region, including a commitment to offer charity care to those in need” said Kinga Huse, President of US Eye.
CVSE is one of five US Eye ambulatory surgery centers, all five of which are AAAHC-certified, meaning each center has completed an extensive self-assessment and on-site survey. The review is performed by AAAHC expert surveyors, which include physicians, nurses, and administrators who are actively involved in ambulatory health care. The AAAHC-accreditation is the gold standard for ambulatory surgery centers and indicates that US Eye surgery centers have met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care.
Speaking of the expansion, Paul Griffey, M.D., cataract surgeon at Griffey Eye Care and co-founder of CVSE, comments, “The addition of a second operating room will provide our patients in the Chesapeake area with convenient, accessible, high-quality eye care. CVSE is a world-class facility that has been further improved to meet the eye care needs of our growing population. We are proud of our team members who have worked tirelessly to bring this vision to fruition, helping to improve accessibility of superior surgical eye care in our region.”
