In a partnership that spans over a quarter-century, Center For Sight is proud to celebrate its enduring sponsorship of the Center For Sight Senior Softball 85s team and its legendary leader, Hugh Brotherton.
Hugh’s connection to Center For Sight began decades ago as a patient of Dr. David Shoemaker, the founder of Center For Sight. Facing the onset of cataracts and seeing the amazing results his wife achieved, Hugh underwent laser cataract surgery with advanced intraocular lenses. The results were life-changing. Grateful for his restored sight, Hugh has been a vocal advocate for eye health and a leader in the senior softball community.
Hugh’s decision to undergo laser cataract surgery with advanced lenses was driven by his desire to stay competitive on the field. In his testimonial, he describes the “instant” transformation in his vision.

Hugh Brotherton is more than just a patient; he is a Senior Softball Hall of Fame Honoree and a Senior Softball World Champion. Under his leadership, the Center For Sight Senior Softball team has secured numerous regional and national titles, consistently appearing at the top of the Tournament of Champions standings.
In 2014, Hugh was instrumental in the historic launch of the 85-Year-Olds Division in Senior Softball-USA (SSUSA), working directly with league officials to ensure the “pioneers” of the sport still had a place to compete.
Today, while Hugh has retired from active play, he remains a driving force behind the league and the team. For US Eye and Center For Sight, this sponsorship represents a core mission: empowering patients to continue pursuing their passions, no matter their age.
